PRELUDIUM 24 for mgr Emilia Powałka!

We have great news from the Department of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry, University of Lodz!

We are pleased to announce that mgr Emilia Powałka – a doctoral student at the Bio-Med-Chem Doctoral School of the University of Lodz and Lodz Institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Lodz has been selected as one of the winners of the National Science Centre's PRELUDIUM 24 call. Her grant supervisor is Dr hab. Łukasz Półtorak, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz is the grant supervisor, while her doctoral dissertation is being supervised by dr hab. Konrad Rudnicki and dr hab. Sylwia Budzyńska (Poznań University of Life Sciences).

The winner received PLN 209,990 in funding for the project "Samoorganizujące się monowarstwy na granicach fazowych typu ciecz-ciecz do wykrywania metabolitów grzybów (SAMycoSENS)" [Self-Assembled Monolayers at Liquid-Liquid Interfaces for the Detection of Fungal Metabolites (SAMycoSENS)]. The aim of the research is to develop a new electroanalytical method enabling the rapid and effective detection of selected mycotoxins and psilocybin. The research will utilise a polarised liquid interface formed between two immiscible electrolyte solutions (water | oil). This system will be modified with biological "sensors" – aptamers and an enzyme – and then analytically validated using real samples.
